Jakub Kiwior’s time at Arsenal looks to be coming to an end, with the Poland international set to join Porto on loan before completing a permanent move next summer worth €26 million.
The 25-year-old arrived from Serie A side Spezia in January 2023 in a €19.5 million deal (per Transfermarkt), meaning Andrea Berta has managed to turn a modest profit on a player who has split his 68 appearances between left-back and centre-back.
Kiwior’s best spell came at the back end of last season, when he deputised for the injured Gabriel Magalhaes in nine consecutive Premier League matches and played a key role in reaching the Champions League semi-finals, including a resounding two-leg victory over Real Madrid.
With his stock at its highest, cashing in makes sense given he was never likely to nail down a regular starting spot. Arsenal’s heavy summer outlay always meant sales would be needed to balance the books, and the proceeds from Kiwior’s departure are expected to help fund a move for his replacement – Bayer Leverkusen’s Piero Hincapie.
Kiwior, who was left out of Arsenal’s squad for the wins over Manchester United and Leeds, is expected to take his medical in the next 24 hours.
