Report: After Eberechi Eze and Piero Hincapie, Arsenal have also just bid £10m for Liverpool target

Arsenal are displaying a lot of activity in the transfer market as we approach deadline day on Monday.

The Gunners unveiled Eberechi Eze on Saturday following his £68m move from Crystal Palace, and Arsenal are now trying to sign Piero Hincapie from Bayer Leverkusen as well.

These two would provide Mikel Arteta with a real injection of experience, although a less experienced player has also just been the subject of a bid from Arsenal in Isaque Severino Silva.

Arsenal bid for Isaque Severino Silva

RTI Esporte in Brazil now state that Arsenal have submitted a bid worth just over €12m (£10m) for the Fluminense wonderkid.

The Brazilian news outlet suggest the offer has arrived too late, with Fluminense already in advanced negotiations to sell Isaque to Shakhtar Donetsk, although RTI Esporte offer a shred of hope for Arsenal.

It is said that interest from Arsenal is “genuine” and could “give new chapters to negotiations” between Fluminense and Shakhtar Donetsk in the final week of the transfer window.

Arsenal’s bid for Isaque – who Liverpool like – is also said to be higher than what Shakhtar Donetsk are offering.

However, RTI Esporte add that the Ukrainian giants are expecting Fluminense to honour their agreement – which seems to be quite far down the line – so this currently feels like an ambitious move for Arsenal to hijack.

Mikel Arteta and Andrea Berta could be looking to replace Reiss Nelson

The bid for Isaque could suggest Arteta and Andrea Berta – Director of Football – are aiming to sign a new forward with a low profile, one who will not demand to start every game, to provide depth to the attacking department.

This background role was performed by Raheem Sterling last season, who made seven Premier League starts while on loan from Chelsea.

The England international has since been replaced in this role – on paper at least – by Reiss Nelson after he returned from his own temporary stint at Fulham.

However, Nelson could return to Fulham before the transfer deadline on Monday, which would leave Arteta needing an attacking option for depth in case of another injury crisis like we saw last season – which even led to Kieran Tierney playing in a wide attacking role at times.
