Wolves may have just been handed a lifeline in their efforts to keep Jorgen Strand Larsen at the club, as Newcastle step up their pursuit of another Premier League striker.
Putting the ball in the net has been the biggest challenge for Vitor Pereira’s side in the opening two games of the season.
As such, the idea of losing Jorgen Strand Larsen is not one Wolves fans even want to contemplate.

But Newcastle’s interest in Strand Larsen is real, and Monday saw them make an official bid for the Norwegian.
Wolves are desperate to keep Strand Larsen, and new information on Newcastle’s movements in the market has offered some encouragement.
Newcastle set to move in hard for Chelsea’s Nicolas Jackson
A new report from Si Phillips has revealed Newcastle’s intentions to step up their pursuit of Nicolas Jackson, after their £50 million bid for Strand Larsen was turned down.
Jackson has attracted interest from several clubs, including German champions Bayern Munich, but the Premier League remains the most likely destination.

In his SPTC substack, Phillips writes: “But if it ends up being between Villa and Newcastle, SPTC sources have heard that he would actually prefer a move to Newcastle.

“And as well as that, we’ve heard from two of our sources yesterday that Newcastle are now stepping up their pursuit of Jackson and are set to move in hard for him late on.”
If these reports are correct, the pieces seem to be falling into place for a move that pleases both parties.
Newcastle signing Nicolas Jackson could save Wolves from losing Jorgen Strand Larsen
Newcastle’s striker situation is well-documented at this point. They need at least one new number nine, and if Alexander Isak’s desires are met, two new signings in that position.
Yoane Wissa has been heavily linked, and although nothing has been made official, the bridges he has burnt at Brentford make a move seem very likely.

If Jackson is also heading up north, then Strand Larsen would be set to stay at Wolves.
Wolves need to hold onto their top goalscorer, who looks far and away the most likely route to goals for this struggling Pereira attack.
