With less than two weeks until the start of the 2025 NFL season, the San Francisco 49ers are continuing to shape their opening day roster.
The team announced a series of moves on Monday, including waiving and placing players on the injury reserve.
Reserve quarterbacks Carter Bradley and Tanner Mordecai have been cut with injury designations, allowing them to revert to injured reserve if they go unclaimed.
The 49ers place OL Isaiah Prince on IR.

Mac Jones, dealing with his own injury, is expected to be ready by week one. He’s San Francisco’s only current backup behind Brock Purdy, but one of Bradley or Mardecai could easily return.
Rookie Kurtis Rouke (227th pick, Indiana) is still recovering from his second ACL surgery and will begin the season on the Injury List.
The team also announced that they have waived defensive linemen Jaylon Allen and Shakel Brown. They’ve also released running back Ke’Shawn Vaughn.
Their running back depth behind Christian McCaffrey continues to be hindered, but hopefully their recent trade for Brian Robinson should help.
Offensive tackle Isaiah Prince was competing for a bench spot with the 49ers, but has now been placed on the Injured Reserve List after suffering a left knee injury in Saturday’s preseason finale.
Final moves will continue to be made by San Francisco general manager John Lynch and head coach Kyle Shanahan prior to the looming 2025 NFL season debut.

It was a down year across the board for the San Francisco 49ers in 2024, meaning that Trent Williams and the rest of the faithful will have to reassert themselves in the NFC in order to regain confidence from outsiders.
The NFL is releasing its top-100 player rankings for the 2025 season, and the star offensive tackle has fallen from his top-40 ranking that was revealed just over one year ago.
Trent Williams, who was ranked as the 38th-best player in the league during last year’s rankings, comes in at number 45 in this year’s edition of the NFL Top-100.
During the course of his 17-year career, the 37-year-old has been named to 11 Pro Bowl rosters, including four with the 49ers, and three All-Pro teams–his most recent taking place during the 2023 season.
