Chelsea want permanent sale of winger as Roma talks continue

Chelsea would prefer the permanent sale of winger Tyrique George as transfer talks with AS Roma continue.

Roma want to sign the teenager with initial discussions having centred around a loan deal. However, Chelsea’s preference is for a permanent sale of the academy product, with the inclusion of a ‘heavy sell-on clause’.

Fabrizio Romano is reporting discussions will continue between the two clubs on Tuesday in a bid to thrash out a deal.

George had a breakout season at Chelsea last campaign, where he made 26 appearances across all competitions and scored three goals. He featured prominently during the European campaign as Chelsea won the UEFA Conference League.

Roma want to bring in another wide player to bolster their squad and have shifted their focus towards the 19-year-old.

The Italian side had been in negotiations with Manchester United over a deal for Jadon Sancho, who spent last season on loan at Chelsea. However, Roma have been unable to reach an agreement with Sancho on personal terms.
