Newcastle United have been dealt another blow in their pursuit of a new striker, with Nicolas Jackson agreeing terms with one of Europe’s biggest clubs.

Geordie Boot Boys have been told that Newcastle are interested in Jackson as Eddie Howe looks to bring in more firepower before the transfer window closes.

The Chelsea forward is not the only forward on Newcastle’s radar but, as has been the case all summer, the club have been met with frustration.

Indeed, transfer target Yoane Wissa looks set to stay at Brentford. Meanwhile, Newcastle have seen a £50million bid for Wolves striker Jorgen Strand Larsen rejected.

Now, Bayern Munich are seemingly hoping to make it a hat-trick of missed targets for the Toon…

Nicolas Jackson agrees terms with Bayern Munich

According to Christian Falk, who is Head of Football at German outlet BILD, Jackson has agreed terms over a move to Bayern.

Chelsea have confirmed they want the Senegal striker to leave this summer, but it remains to be seen if they will accept Bayern’s proposal.

That’s because the Bundesliga giants are trying to sign the 24-year-old on loan.

While Newcastle do have reservations about Jackson, the fact another forward is seemingly off the table with such little time left in the window is hardly a positive.

Jackson was open to joining Newcastle, if he were to have remained in the Premier League should he leave Stamford Bridge.

Still, Bayern are a difficult team to turn down. One of the biggest clubs in the world, joining the German giants even in a back-up role to Harry Kane would surely have to be seen as a good move for him.

Clearly, the Bayern move isn’t done yet, but little about what Newcastle have done this summer would suggest they would be able to beat a club of that stature in the transfer market.

Quite how badly missing out on him would be remains to be seen. Though Jackson is no doubt a talented player, it would perhaps be fair to say he’s not totally convinced at Chelsea.
