Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola will hope to see his side improve when they face Brighton and Hove Albion on Sunday.
The Citizens suffered a surprise 2-09 defeat at the hands of Tottenham Hotspur at The Etihad on Saturday, leaving them with three points from their opening two matches of the new Premier League season.
Guardiola will not have been happy with his side’s performance against Spurs, with a number of players failing to impress.
New signing James Trafford was at fault for Tottenham’s second goal, with the goalkeeper’s loose pass allowing Joao Palhinha to double the visitors’ lead.
Now, it appears that City are closing in on the signing of a new ‘keeper.
According to GiveMeSport, the Citizens are nearing an agreement to sign goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma from French side Paris Saint-Germain.

The report claims that PSG had initially been demanding a fee of around £43 million for the Italy international, who has been replaced as number one by Lucas Chevalier.
City refused that asking price, however, citing the fact that Donnarumma was no longer in PSG’s plans and also the fact that he could be available as a free agent next summer when his contract is due to expire.
It is claimed that the two clubs are still in talks over a deal worth around £25-30 million, although City are attempting to lower that figure even further in the closing stages of the transfer window.
Donnarumma has established himself as one of the best goalkeepers in Europe since joining PSG from boyhood club AC Milan back in 2021.
In total he has played 161 times for the French side, helping Luis Enrique’s side to win the Champions League, Ligue 1 title and French Cup last season.
The report claims that the Italian is very keen to join City and work with Guardiola, however the deal depends entirely on whether or not the Citizens can offload current ‘keeper Ederson before the end of the transfer window.
