Nottingham Forest shortlist of transfer targets revealed as deal 'in progress' for defender

Nottingham Forest are said to be in talks to sign Leicester City left-back Victor Kristiansen.

Strengthening at full-back is a priority for the Reds as they look ahead to next Monday’s deadline. They have a number of potential targets in their sights to provide competition on the left and right side of defence, with Kristiansen being one.

Forest have brought in eight new additions so far this summer. However, they still have some work to do to put the finishing touches to Nuno Espirito Santo’s squad before the window closes.

According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, negotiations are progressing to bring Kristiansen to the City Ground. The 22-year-old Denmark international is one of several players being eyed by the Reds.

Romano posted on X: “Nottingham Forest are in club to club talks with Leicester City for Viktor Kristiansen. Deal on as exclusively revealed in July and now in progress.”

The Athletic have identified Club Brugge’s Joaquin Seys as another option for Forest at left-back. Atletico Madrid’s Nahuel Molina and RB Leipzig’s Lutsharel Geertruida are on the club’s wanted list at right-back.

However, it seems there is a potential stumbling block in the case of Molina. Romano added: “Nothing advanced for Nahuel Molina at this stage as he wants to stay at Atlético Madrid.”

After Sunday’s 1-1 draw at Crystal Palace, head coach Nuno said he wanted a further three signings. He stated his preference to bring in two full-backs and another goalkeeper.

The Reds have been credited with an interest in Fenerbahce stopper Dominik Livakovic. However, it has been reported talks have stalled due to the player being unhappy with the salary on offer.

Getafe’s David Soria is actually Forest’s preferred option to provide back-up for No.1 Matz Sels, according to The Athletic. Free transfer Angus Gunn has already been brought in, but Nuno is keen to have three senior keepers on the books.

He said on Sunday: “We need three players - one more goalie and two full-backs,” Nuno said after the full-time whistle at Selhurst Park. “We cannot live with the fear of if something happens to Ola (Aina) and Neco (Williams).”

He added: “If one of our wingers can play at full-back, I will be the first to say that we need only one full-back. But Omari (Hutchinson), Kali (Arnaud Kalimuendo), Macca (James McAtee), I look at them and they are not full-backs.

“The team needs full-backs. We have Omar Richards and Eric Moreira, who need to move and proceed their careers and be happy, because I cannot give what they need in their careers, which is minutes.”
