Newcastle United “don’t rate” the likes of Jorgen Strand Larsen or Nicolas Jackson after learning their price tags.
Eddie Howe’s side are considering their striker options following the speculation surrounding Alexander Isak, who is currently on strike as he looks to secure a move to Liverpool.
Newcastle have been targeting Strand Larsen ahead of the transfer window closing on 1 September.
However, Wolves are believed to be asking for more than £60million to let the 25-year-old leave after turning down a £50million bid from Newcastle.
Meanwhile, Chelsea want £60million to sell Jackson, who has also been linked with a move to St James’ Park in recent weeks.

Newcastle could take striker ‘gamble’ after transfer latest

Strand Larsen registered 14 goals and five assists in 38 appearances last season, but he has failed to get off the mark in Wolves’ opening two games of the new Premier League campaign.

Jackson, who recorded 13 goals and six assists in 37 outings last season, was suspended for Chelsea’s season-opener against Crystal Palace and was left out of the matchday squad for their victory over West Ham.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, Borson said: “It’s going to be very hard for Newcastle to find a striker.
“Anybody that they go and approach, it doesn’t matter who they are, is minimum £60million.
“We know that there’s a relatively small list of those players.
“Strand Larsen and Nicolas Jackson are these players.
“And to be honest, I get the impression Newcastle are not blown away by any of those options.
“So, they’d be being asked to buy a player that they don’t really rate that highly and sort of gamble on it working.
“To do that, they’re obviously going to be reluctant.”

Brentford respond to Newcastle’s improved Yoane Wissa bid
In terms of another potential incoming, Newcastle have been attempting to sign Yoane Wissa throughout the transfer window, having seen an improved £40million bid rejected for his services last week.
The 28-year-old took the unusual step of unfollowing Brentford on Instagram last week after seeing a move to Newcastle blocked.
Wissa wasn’t named in the Bees squad for their first two games of the new campaign.
