Wrexham are still looking to strengthen their squad as the transfer window enters the final week.
Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney have already sanctioned a record-breaking spending spree with the club smashing club-record fees three times over the summer.
Phil Parkinson continues to work on signings as he prepares his current squad for the Carabao Cup clash at Preston North End.
Wrexham have lodged bids for three midfielders but former England and Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand is in disbelief that the Red Dragons haven’t signed a player available for free this window.

Rio Ferdinand ‘can’t believe’ Wrexham have not signed Jamie Vardy
Speaking on his ‘Rio Presents’ YouTube channel, Ferdinand has stated his shock that Wrexham have not made a move for Jamie Vardy this summer.
Vardy has been linked with Manchester United after becoming a free agent at the end of last season and has also been subject to interest from the Red Dragons.
Ferdinand stated: “As much as I love Jamie Vardy and I respect everything he’s done in the game, he’s not what Man United need right now. He’s just gone a bit too far over the hill to really be able to impact the team.

“You can’t bring someone in just to impact the changing room. He isn’t going to want to come there and just sit down and just chill. He wants to play football, with the type of person he is. As much as he’s got experience, it’s just not the right time.
“I can’t believe he’s not signed for Wrexham. Right now, I just think it would probably be more harmful for Vardy to come here [to Man Utd] for himself than it would benefit us.”
Wrexham should avoid temptation of making Jamie Vardy move
Although Parkinson is still active in the transfer market in the remaining few days, Vardy is not the solution to Wrexham’s difficult start.
The Red Dragons have an array of options in attack with the likes of Ryan Hardie and Sam Smith currently playing second fiddle to Kieffer Moore and Nathan Broadhead.
Josh Windass is likely to miss up to six weeks with a hamstring injury and further adds to the options up top as does Jay Rodriguez upon his return from injury.
Wrexham are looking to bolster midfield options and the wages that Vardy would demand means he is a target that is well worth avoiding.
