Newcastle United have reportedly decided whether to make a second bid for Wolverhampton Wanderers forward Jorgen Strand Larsen.
The Magpies are still attempting to resolve the ongoing transfer saga involving Alexander Isak, who is eager to leave St James' Park to sign for Liverpool.
As per the most recent reports, Newcastle officials held discussions with the Sweden international on Monday, it unclear whether that will have any baring on the matter with less than a week of the summer transfer window remaining.
Eddie Howe and the club's recruitment team were already in a position where they needed to replace Callum Wilson, the situation with Isak leading to greater urgency in securing the signature of at least one more number nine.
On Monday, a report emerged which revealed that Newcastle had failed with a £50m offer for Strand Larsen, who netted 14 goals in his first season of Premier League football.

Newcastle make decision on Strand Larsen
With Wolves insistent that the leading marksman and most valuable asset will not be leaving Molineux before Monday's 7pm deadline, Newcastle have needed to decide whether they will make a second bid or move on to alternatives.
According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Newcastle are "still insisting" and "working" on finalising a deal for the Norway international.
That suggests that an improved proposal will soon be made for a player who has a contract at Wolves until 2029.
The previous indication has been that Strand Larsen would agree personal terms with Newcastle, yet would not actively push for a transfer due to respect for his current employers.
As such, it leaves the onus on Wolves to decide whether they accept what could be a fresh bid of somewhere between £55m and £60m.
Newcastle also remain interested in Brentford's Yoane Wissa, albeit with the Bees continuing to play hardball over the player's signature despite less than a year remaining on his contract.

How will Wolves react to fresh Strand Larsen bid?
Strand Larsen currently faces the prospect of being involved in a Premier League relegation battle when Wolves have failed to win any of six pre-season friendlies and have lost to Manchester City and Bournemouth in top-flight action without scoring a goal.
Realistically-speaking, the 25-year-old will want to jump at the chance of playing Champions League football for the first time in his career.
From Wolves' perspective, however, they already face the prospect of frustration growing among the fanbase and with head coach Vitor Pereira if Strand Larsen is sold.
With Getafe attacker Christantus Uche in two minds over whether to move to Wolves and no players being signed during the summer transfer window who have played a single minute of Premier League football, there is a growing feeling that Wolves are at a crossroads moment in the short and long term.
