Tyson Fury has revealed why he's stopped supporting Manchester United & England

Tyson Fury has revealed that he has given up on supporting Manchester United and the England national team, despite being an avid fan for many years, even following the latter around during competitions.

The retired boxer was one of the Red Devils' most famous supporters and has been seen supporting them multiple times over the years. It had even been a long dream of his to fight at Old Trafford, but that might not happen with the Gypsy King claiming to be retired.

Fury last fought in December 2024 when he lost his rematch against Oleksandr Usyk, and announced his retirement in early 2025. The 37-year-old previously announced his retirement, however, after beating Dillian Whyte in April 2022, only to return six months later, so any "retirement" he announces is taken with a pinch of salt. He currently holds a professional record of 34 wins, two defeats, and one draw, and the likes of Eddie Hearn believe he will return to the ring one day.

While Fury has recently announced that he has given up on his club, he did once state that he would NOT jump off the United bandwagon, despite their drastic decline in recent years.

Tyson Fury

"Everyone at Manchester United has been very kind towards me. We've got to keep our chins up. Finishing seventh in the Premier League is one thing, but we'll be back, because United have been the top club in the country on and off for a long, long time. You can't just jump off the bandwagon because you've had a bad season. United will always be United. The rest of these clubs will come and go."

United's Decline Has Pushed Tyson Fury Over the Edge

Since the departure of Sir Alex Ferguson in 2013, United have had one of the club's toughest periods in modern times. While the club have won multiple domestic trophies and a UEFA Europa League since his departure, the last few years have been troubling for the Red Devils.

United suffered the ignominy of losing the 2024 Europa League final to Tottenham, while finishing the Premier League season in 15th place. This season, the team have one point from their first two games, having lost to Arsenal at Old Trafford and drawn 1-1 with Fulham away from home.

Perhaps it is this recent form which has caused Fury to throw in the towel. The Briton revealed his stance on the club to Racing TV on Monday, while he attended Cartmel racecourse to see two of the thoroughbreds he part-owns race.

"I'm not a supporter of football really. I used to support United, but because they're in the s*** now, I'm no supporter of any football teams anymore. I used to support England as well, but when they lost to Iceland in the Euros in 2016, that was me and football completely done with. Now I'm into horse racing, get up!"
