Ndiaye: New stadium can be trophy catalyst

**Iliman Ndiaye believes Everton’s new home can be a catalyst in their bid for success.**

David Moyes’ side have endured a silverware-starved run of more than three decades since winning the 1995 FA Cup final against Manchester United.

But the move to Hill Dickinson Stadium is set to boost the Blues’ revenues while they have already made several encouraging additions in this summer transfer window.

Ndiaye holds the distinction of scoring the opening goal at the club’s state-of-the-art home against Brighton, having also notched the last at Goodison Park last season.

Ahead of the Blues welcoming Mansfield Town in Wednesday’s Carabao Cup second round tie, the Senegal international feels the club’s ambitions are renewed.

“That’s a target,” said Ndiaye.

“We’ve got a new stadium and obviously we want to change what’s been going on for the last few seasons; change the way we do things.

“Our target is to win trophies, basically.

“I feel like we’ve always wanted to look forward.

“Obviously things can happen that you can’t control, but we’ve always tried to look forward.

“Now it’s a new project, a new stadium, things like that.

“It’s kind of like a new start.”

He added: “Last season wasn’t too great but we finished strong, which we needed for us, for the fans and the stadium because we were leaving.

“But coming to this new stadium, we’ve got obviously new expectations, new targets and a new manager who’s been here for half of last season.

“It’s just about aiming high and I feel like the whole squad is in the same bubble.

“Everyone’s thinking the same so I just want to aim high.”
