NFL Cutdown Day: Giants Release Tommy DeVito

The New York Giants are moving on from one of their quarterbacks.

Per ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the Giants released Tommy DeVito on Tuesday.

DeVito, 27, has appeareed in 12 games (8 starts) for the Giants in his two-year career, throwing for eight touchdowns and 1,358 passing yards to go along with three interceptions. He went 3-5 as a starter during this Giants stint.

A native of New Jersey, DeVito played college football for Syracuse and Illinois, amassing 6,516 passing yards and 43 touchdowns in his collegiate career.

DeVito had a nice preseason performance against the New England Patriots, and some feel that the Pats might even pursue DeVito as a backup option.

The deadline for NFL teams to get down to their 53-man rosters is 4 p.m. ET on Tuesday. DeVito is far from the last release we will see.

The question is, where will DeVito land next?

Meanwhile, the Giants have apparently decided to roll with a quarterback room of Russell Wilson (starter), Jaxson Dart and Jameis Winston.

New York opens up its regular season on the road against the Washington Commanders on September 7.
