Newcastle fans appear to have changed their mind on Chelsea striker Nicolas Jackson

Chelsea’s Nicolas Jackson has been linked with numerous clubs in this summer transfer window, including Newcastle United. Will he secure a move to St James’ Park, though?

The transfer window will close at 7pm on 1 September, and Nicolas Jackson still doesn’t know where he’ll be playing his football this season.

Chelsea aren’t using Jackson right now while his future is sorted out. Instead, Joao Pedro and Liam Delap have emerged as the main strikers for the Blues. In contrast, Newcastle are struggling in attack because of Alexander Isak’s absence as his transfer saga continues.

It’s been reported this week that Newcastle are stepping up their interest in Jackson, who’s also attracting interest from Bayern Munich and Aston Villa for his signature. Apparently, Chelsea are willing to allow the 24-year-old striker to leave on loan, but it must include an obligation to buy clause.

Newcastle fans perform U-turn on Nicolas Jackson

Back in July, Newcastle supporters insisted they didn’t want to sign Jackson from Chelsea when the transfer speculation emerged.

However, it looks like the Magpies fanbase have had a change of heart, with plenty of them on X now deciding that the Blues striker would be a smart signing before the window shuts.

Newcastle fans on social media argued that they should sign Jackson while watching their team slip to a 3-2 Premier League loss at home to Liverpool on Monday night.

One fan said: “Sign Nicolas Jackson, finish top 4 again. It’s that simple. He’ll score loads in this team, guaranteed.”

“If we just pay whatever Wolves want for Jorgen Strand Larsen and go get Nicolas Jackson either on loan or buy now that would be grand,” another posted.

One supporter insisted: “Jackson is there and available. Come on!”

“Sign Jackson tomorrow,’ another commented.

Newcastle chiefs agree Jackson would be a great signing for them after mulling him over as a transfer target this summer. On paper, the quick and energetic forward has all the attributes to succeed in an Eddie Howe team.

Have Chelsea upgraded in attack this summer?

Yet again, Chelsea have had plenty of incomings and outgoings during the transfer window, especially in the attacking areas. From Jackson’s perspective, we hope he finds a move in the final stages this summer.

The likes of Noni Madueke, Joao Felix and Armando Broja have been sold by the Blues this summer, while the futures of Jackson and Christopher Nkunku are still up in the air.

In terms of new faces, Chelsea have added the likes of Pedro, Liam Delap, Estevao Willian and Jamie Gittens to the new-look forward line.

Overall, Enzo Maresca’s attacking options do feel stronger now than they did last season.
