Everton will take on League One side Mansfield Town FC in their first-ever cup game at the Hill Dickinson Stadium.

The Toffees enjoyed a successful opening as Everton beat Brighton 2-0 in the first-ever competitive match at the new stadium, and fans will now attend an evening match for the first time.

David Moyes’ side could aim to go far in the Carabao Cup, after a summer in which several new signings have arrived and more could follow.

There is likely to be some rotation for the game as Everton aim to keep their squad players sharp, but with a lot of new faces joining, this could be a good chance for them to develop their relationships on the pitch.

Team News

Summer signing Adam Aznou could be in Everton’s matchday squad after missing the first two games with injury, but is likely to start on the bench.

MORE TOFFEES STORIES

There are limited options in defence with Jarrad Branthwaite and Vitaliy Mykolenko absent, and this could see James Garner continue at left-back.

New goalkeeper Mark Travers could make his debut, coming in for Jordan Pickford, while Beto could start after he was dropped for the quietly impressive Thierno Barry against Brighton.

Predicted lineups

New signing Tyler Dibling is likely to start on the bench, but Carlos Alcaraz could line up alongside Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall and Iliman Ndiaye in attacking midfield.

Idrissa Gana Gueye and Tim Iroegbunam could continue in the middle of the park as they aim to maintain some continuity in midfield.

Jake O’Brien is set to continue at right-back, while Michael Keane and James Tarkowski will hope to keep another clean sheet.

Everton: Travers, O’Brien, Tarkowski, Keane, Garner, Gueye, Iroegbunam, Alcaraz, Dewsbury-Hall, Ndiaye, Beto.

Mansfield Town: Roberts, Knoyle, Bowery, Cargill, Blake-Tracy, McDonnell, Reed, Moriah-Welsh, Hendry, Dickov, Evans.

Prediction: Everton 3-0 Mansfield Town

Moyes will hope some of his attacking players, and Beto in particular, can find their form in front of goal against the League One side.

Mansfield may not be the easiest opponent though, as they are flying with four consecutive wins, and smashed Leyton Orient 4-1 in their last fixture.

Nevertheless, home advantage could be big for Everton even with some rotation, and a comfortable victory and clean sheet will be expected from Moyes.
