Exclusive: Man Utd receive surprise loan offer for 'in-demand' winger who scored in pre-season

Manchester United have been handed the opportunity to send promising Old Trafford youngster Ethan Williams out on loan as Croatian side HNK Rijeka have set their sights on securing his services ahead of the summer transfer window slamming shut next week, GIVEMESPORT sources have revealed.

Having already allowed the likes of Marcus Rashford to embark on a fresh challenge, with the England international joining La Liga heavyweights on an initial temporary deal which includes a £26million option to buy, Red Devils head coach Ruben Amorim has been seeking to make further alterations to his squad.

Benjamin Sesko has been the most expensive Manchester United arrival ahead of the September 1 deadline, thanks to the striker joining for up to £73.7million from RB Leipzig, but there is still time for more incomings and outgoings to be sanctioned as they seek to bounce back from missing out on silverware and European qualification last term.

Williams Handed Chance to Head Out on Loan

Manchester United have received an offer for Williams from surprise club HNK Rijeka, according to GMS sources, with the reigning SuperSport HNL champions eager to take him on loan for the season as they aim to improve their chances of winning more silverware in the current campaign.

The in-demand winger, who was described as 'superb' by Cheltenham Town boss Michael Flynn when he enjoyed a spell with the League Two outfit last term, is not at the forefront of the Red Devils' plans following their spending spree and will have the opportunity to test himself in new surroundings if his current employers accept the proposal.

GMS sources have been informed that Williams is firmly on HNK Rijeka's radar, having featured in the Football League during the 2024/25 campaign and found the back of the net during Manchester United's Premier League Summer Series encounter with Bournemouth in pre-season, and they are keen to win the race for his services.

The arrivals of Bryan Mbeumo, after a deal worth up to £71million was agreed with Brentford following lengthy negotiations last month, and Matheus Cunha have resulted in the Red Devils having fresh attacking options and there being little scope for the 19-year-old to break into the first-team picture.

Manchester United are aware that allowed Williams to join HNK Rijeka could aid his development as it would give him an opportunity to compete in the Croatian top flight, GMS sources have learned, but they are still contemplating whether to give him the green light to leave Old Trafford.

Williams Could Compete in the Europa League

GMS sources have been told that HNK Rijeka have also upped the ante in their pursuit of Williams as they seek to book their place in the Europa League, with them facing Greek side PAOK in the second leg of their play-off clash later this week, meaning that continental action could also be on offer if he leaves Manchester United.
