The crown of "Wide Receiver University" has been owned by LSU for several years now. Given the elite receivers that LSU continues to churn out year after year, there hasn't really been much true debate on who the real WRU is in today's NFL.
Only recently has Ohio State tried to claim that title. It's true that Ohio State has produced some great receivers in recent seasons, but they pale in comparison to what LSU has done.
One former Ohio State receiver agrees. In an interview with the Pivot Podcast, Jaxon Smith-Njigba said that right now LSU holds the crown of WRU.

He's right! Along with Smith-Njigba, former Ohio State receivers Chris Olave and Marvin Harrison Jr. have had relatively slow starts to their NFL careers. Smith-Njigba took a big step forward in his sophomore campaign, and it's hard to knock Garrett Wilson's three consecutive 1,000-yard seasons, but overall, LSU has the edge. Right now, former LSU greats Ja'Marr Chase, Justin Jefferson, Malik Nabers, and Brian Thomas Jr. are all shining in the NFL, and they have been from the minute they set foot on an NFL field.
Last season, the top three leading receivers in the NFL all went to LSU. Ja'Marr Chase led the league with 1,708 yards, Justin Jefferson ranked second with 1,533 yards and Brian Thomas Jr. ranked third with 1,282 yards. Malik Nabers came in seventh with 1,204 yards. An Ohio State product isn't found until Smith-Njigba at No. 12, who finished the season with 1,130 receiving yards.
Chase is coming off a historic 2024 campaign, and his chemistry with fellow LSU legend Joe Burrow is nearly unstoppable. Jefferson continues to thrive no matter who his quarterback is, and Thomas Jr. and Nabers both put together incredible rookie seasons in 2024. They could be poised for even bigger seasons in 2025.
When the 2025 season wraps up, it wouldn't be surprising to see multiple LSU products leading the league in major statistical categories once again. WRU is staying in Baton Rouge.
