Brentford are reportedly giving consideration to trying to sign Borussia Dortmund forward Max Beier.
The Bees have enjoyed a solid start to the campaign, Keith Andrews witnessing his side defeat Aston Villa on Saturday afternoon to make it three points from two Premier League fixtures.
However, as the uncertainty over Yoane Wissa's future continues, it is clear that Brentford may require a like-for-like replacement for last season's joint-top goalscorer.
According to Sky Sports News, Brentford have identified Beier as one of several attacking targets for the closing week of the summer transfer window.
In his first year at the Westfalenstadion, the Germany international contributed 10 goals and six assists from his 47 appearances in all competitions.
That was a respectable return for someone who counted 22 substitute outings to his name, yet it remains to be seen whether he remains an important player in the squad.
Beier was an unused substitute as Dortmund drew 3-3 with St Pauli in last weekend's Bundesliga opener, casting doubt as to whether they are open to a sale.

Forest in talks with Strasbourg over forward
Meanwhile, Nottingham Forest are allegedly interested in adding yet another attack-minded player to their squad.
A wide array of fresh faces have already been acquired for the final third, while Nuno Espirito Santo has recently suggested that a new backup goalkeeper and full-back is high on the list of priorities.
Nevertheless, as per Sky Sports News, Forest are pushing to negotiate a deal for Strasbourg forward Dilane Bakwa.
Forest are said to have bid marginally in excess of £30m to sign the 23-year-old, who has also been linked with Leeds United.
Bakwa has developed into one of Strasbourg's star players with 11 goals and 20 assists coming from just 69 appearances in all competitions.
He has supplied the assists for each of the winning goals in Strasbourg's opening two Ligue 1 fixtures in 2025-26, despite accumulating just 60 minutes of action.
With two years left on his contract and his club having been active in the transfer market, Strasbourg are seemingly prepared to cash in for the right price.

PSG take stance over star man
European champions Paris Saint-Germain has reportedly stated that Vitinha is not for sale at any price.
The 25-year-old has developed into a Ballon d'Or nominee since making the switch from Porto to Parc des Princes in 2022.
As well as contributing 20 goals and 15 assists from 156 appearances, the Portugal international was instrumental as PSG won last season's Champions League.
According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, PSG will snub any late interest in Vitinha if offers are made over the next six days.
There has been talk of a release clause being present in the player's contract, but that suggestion has been rejected.
Vitinha's contract with the Ligue 1 giants does not expire until 2029.
