Everton facing competition from Barcelona for player – 21-year-old earning admirers

Everton could face competition from Barcelona for Villarreal forward Etta Eyong, who has already been added to the Catalans’ shortlist.

That’s according to Sport, who say that Barcelona director of football Deco already has the striker on his list.

They explain that Villarreal want to get the young striker signed up to a new deal as soon as possible as there’s every opportunity at this moment in time that he could leave for a bargain price.

His current deal runs until 2027, so the Spanish currently run the risk of him entering next summer with a year left on his deal. There is also the issue of his former club Cadiz owning 50% of a future sale.

Barcelona have taken notice of him and would like to sign him, then loan him out to develop for the future. They’re currently working out the numbers and if it would add up.

All of this might be of interest to Everton, who have also been credited with an interest. A report four days stated that they had already been in contact with Villarreal about a potential deal this summer.

They’ve already done business with Villarreal this summer, signing Thierno Barry, and that’s a potential relationship they can take advantage of.

Now Barcelona might be in the mix, something which Everton might need to consider if their interest is serious.
