Aston Villa have been linked with a move for Ligue 1 star Adrien Rabiot. West Ham United are also keeping tabs on the situation and an intense transfer battle awaits us in the closing days of the transfer window.
The French international, often linked with Manchester United in previous windows, has grabbed headlines lately after a reported altercation with teammate Jonathan Rowe in training. Marseille are severely alarmed by Rabiot’s inappropriate behaviour and have taken the decision to part ways with the midfielder.
Rabiot only arrived at the Orange Vélodrome stadium last summer and is already headed for the exit doors. The club are not a fan of such unruly behaviour and have taken a stand by asking both the angry men to leave despite Rabiot previously being a favoured player in the Marseille squad.
What exactly happened?
Jonathan Rowe, the former Norwich City player, has already found a new club in the Serie A and will be joining Bologna. Marseille gaffer Roberto De Zerbi was addressing the press and made the following comments as reported by the Birmingham Mail about the training ground bust-up –
“In a workplace, we have two employees fighting like in an English pub, with a teammate on the ground because he had lost consciousness.
What should the employer do in France? There are two solutions, either suspension or dismissal.
A clear decision [was made] – to remove the players from the squad while waiting to see how they feel. In a football club, as everywhere else, there must be a hierarchy. The club comes first.”

Reports emerging from the French media claim that Rabiot has now received two proposals from Premier League teams in Aston Villa and West Ham United. Boasting of decorated resume with the likes of Paris Saint-Germain and Juventus on it, Rabiot could now embark on a Premier League chapter.

Former Aston Villa player set to join rivals
Last season saw the arrival of Axel Diasi on loan at Villa Park. The defender joined the Villans on a loan move from Club World Cup winners, Chelsea. It is understood that Unai Emery played a crucial role in convincing Diasi for the transfer. Despite a brief stint with Aston Villa, where he made 10 appearances (5 as starter), the club did not seek his permanent signing this summer.
Football transfer pundit Fabrizio Romano states that the player is now on course for another Premier League stint but will seal his fate at Stamford Bridge permanently this window. Bournemouth are in advanced talks to land the versatile defender. Chelsea are keen on offloading the player before the transfer window concludes and surely will be looking to land another defender to replace him before the window slams shut.
