Manchester City could make a change in the defensive department before the transfer deadline on Monday.
Manuel Akanji might leave, with Galatasaray and now Crystal Palace showing a desire to sign the Switzerland international.
Those at Selhurst Park want a new central defender to replace Marc Guehi – who Manchester City are looking at, according to the Daily Star.
The Crystal Palace No.6 becomes a free agent in June 2026 and Steve Parish does not want to lose the England international for nothing – with a price tag of £40m put on his head.
If Marc Guehi does end up at Manchester City, it would see him rekindle his partnership with John Stones.
Marc Guehi has previously called John Stones a “dream” to play alongside
The Crystal Palace captain and the Manchester City No.5 played 570 minutes of football alongside each other for England at UEFA Euro 2024 – helping the Three Lions reach the final against Spain.

Guehi and Stones conceded just four goals when on the pitch together, and the man born in Abidjan absolutely loved playing next to the Manchester City star.
The 25-year-old told BBC Sport: “Playing with John is an absolute dream. He makes my life so much easier and I am just following in his footsteps.”
Stones admitted to talkSPORT the feeling was mutual.
Guehi also praised Kyle Walker – who Manchester City sold to Burnley for £5m in July – adding: “Top, unbelievable player. His tenacity and leadership shows in tough moments. His pace definitely helps a lot in any situation. His reading of the game is fantastic.”
Manchester City could sign a bargain in Marc Guehi
Crystal Palace rejected a £70m bid from Tottenham for Guehi in February, so £40m represents a bargain sum as the Eagles try to avoid losing him for nothing in 2026.
With 23 caps for England under his belt by the age of 25 and also 134 Premier League appearances, the Crystal Palace star is capable of dominating at the highest level for potentially the next decade, meaning Manchester City could receive immense value for money if a £40m deal happens.
Of course, Abdukodir Khusanov might be upset if a move does materialise, having only arrived from RC Lens for £34m in January but already falling out of favour under Pep Guardiola.
However, the 2-0 defeat to Tottenham proved Manchester City are still not where they need to be, so it would be understandable if Hugo Viana capitalises on the chance to sign Guehi.
