The Buffalo Bills will be making several roster cuts on Tuesday. All NFL teams have to get their active roster to 53 players on Tuesday, and Buffalo is already tearing apart the receiving room.

NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported that the “Bills are releasing WR and returner Laviska Shenault Jr.”

Shenault was brought in this offseason to try to compete for a job and see what he could bring to the table. It didn’t seem like the Bills liked what they saw from the receiver since he won’t be making their roster.

Even though the Bills parted ways with Shenault, the team could still try to add another receiver. With less than two weeks before the season, it’s going to be tricky to trade for one. But on Monday, Las Vegas Raiders veteran receiver Jakobi Meyers demanded a trade from the team.

Jakobi Meyers Wants Out of Las Vegas

One of the reasons why Meyers most likely asked to be traded from the Raiders was that the team signed veteran receiver Amari Cooper on Monday. Cooper has sat on the open market all offseason and finally signed two weeks before the season. Cooper isn’t the same player he was a few years ago. But he can still help out an offense. Meyers should be thrilled to play with Cooper.

It’s unlikely that Meyers will be traded, but if he does, the Bills could be players for him. There is no reason why the Bills shouldn’t make a call to the Raiders and see what it takes to get him. Buffalo only has a few more years left of prime Josh Allen, and the team needs to acquire top-tier players.

Bills Urged to Trade For Meyers

Jarrett Bailey from The Sporting News thinks the Bills may be interested in trading for Meyers.

“Should the Raiders be willing to move off Meyers, the Bills should be making the call. In terms of who/what they can send in return, Buffalo should offer Curtis Samuel and defensive tackle DeWayne Carter. On top of that, a late-round pick swap could be added to the deal. Buffalo is all but certainly releasing both of these players anyway. Samuel has been a disappointment since signing last offseason, and Buffalo just signed Jordan Phillips, which doesn’t bode well for Carter,” Bailey wrote.

“Meyers had 87 catches for over 1,000 yards in 2024 with Aidan O’Connell and Gardner Minshew as his quarterbacks – imagine what he could do with Josh Allen. If it can be done, the Bills should pull the trigger,” Bailey added.

Meyers has played in six NFL seasons, recording 4,592 receiving yards and 20 scores in 91 games. If the Bills were to trade for him, he could be the No. 2 receiver on the team.

Since the Raiders aren’t a Super Bowl contender, it won’t be a big deal for them to trade with Buffalo. Usually, teams competing for championships in the same conference don’t like to trade with each other. But since the Raiders aren’t close to being a playoff team, the Bills could be players for Meyers.
