TBR Football understands that Liverpool are preparing a new British transfer record offer to sign Alexander Isak from Newcastle United.
On Monday, Newcastle held fresh talks with Alexander Isak, and they’re now anticipating a bid from Liverpool as a result.
Isak didn’t feature in Newcastle’s late 2-3 defeat to Liverpool at St James’ Park on Monday evening, and there are serious doubts over whether he’ll ever play for the club again.
Since arriving from Real Sociedad in 2022, the 25-year-old has scored 62 goals in 109 games for Newcastle – a record even Alan Shearer would be proud of.
And despite Hugo Ekitike’s excellent start at Liverpool, Arne Slot’s side are still extremely keen to add Isak to their forward line.

That being said, TBR Football chief correspondent Graeme Bailey understands that Liverpool’s new offer will surpass the £130m mark.
Liverpool’s bid might get closer to £140m in total, but that depends on the add-ons included.
However, it’s understood that Liverpool won’t pay £150m to sign the Swedish striker.
In terms of Newcastle’s chat with Isak on Monday, co-owner Jamie Reuben led a delegation who hoped to change the striker’s mind.

Reuben outlined a path for Isak to be reintegrated into the first-team squad, should he remain on Tyneside this time next week.
On their part, Newcastle are doing their best to bring in two strikers before next week’s deadline.
TBR Football recently shared that Wolves want £70m for Jorgen Strand Larsen, a figure Eddie Howe’s side are unwilling to match.
But talks are continuing over Larsen and Yoane Wissa; the pair aren’t Newcastle’s only options, but they are the two priority targets at this point.
Newcastle still in talks to sign Yoane Wissa and Jorgen Strand Larsen
Of course, with Newcastle trying to bring in two new strikers, that indicates that they are working on the provision that Isak will depart.
It’s understood that Newcastle are now prepared for a new offer to arrive from Anfield, one that will be an increase on their initial bid at the beginning of the month.
In terms of Wissa and Larsen’s individual records in the Premier League, they aren’t quite able to match Isak’s.
Striker Games Goals Goals per game
Alexander Isak 86 54 0.63
Yoane Wissa 137 45 0.33
Jorgen Strand Larsen 37 14 0.38

But given Newcastle have already failed in pursuit of several top targets this summer, the pair would be two welcome late additions to Howe’s side.
Anthony Gordon didn’t make things any easier for Newcastle following his three-game suspension that he picked up against Liverpool for a poor tackle on Virgil van Dijk.
And although William Osula scored against Slot’s side, Newcastle will be keen to bring fresh faces in as soon as possible.
