Manchester United are edging closer to securing their fifth senior signing of the summer transfer window.
Antwerp goalkeeper Senne Lammens has been strongly linked with a move to Old Trafford, with the deal expected to be finalised this week.
According to The Telegraph, there is still work to be done before personal terms to be agreed over a deal for Lammens.
His representatives were in England this week to negotiate a potential deal.
Antwerp further fuelled speculation of his departure by omitting him from their matchday squad last weekend.
Lammens would be a shrewd signing
The 23-year-old is a highly promising shot-stopper and statistically outshone both Andre Onana and Altay Bayindir last campaign.
United are expected to splash between £21.6m and £25.9m to bring him in.
Lammens featured in 40 Belgian Pro League games last season, posting an impressive 77% save rate.
That figure eclipsed Onana’s 67% and Bayindir’s modest 44% in the same period.
He also faced eight penalties and remarkably denied half of them.
Lammens may take time to adjust to the intensity of the Premier League and having Onana alongside seems to be a good strategy.
Bayindir and veteran Tom Heaton remain available as additional options for Amorim.
With only a few days remaining in the window, all four goalkeepers may stay put until January.
A late loan departure for Bayindir is also possible.
The Turkish international started in both Premier League games this season.
His ball distribution caught the eye, but his inability to command the box and show authority during corner set-pieces is a damaging weakness United cannot afford to overlook.
