Spanish newspaper [AS](https://as.com/futbol/primera/cumbre-por-antony-en-manchester-n/?utm_campaign=mrf-twitter-diarioas&mrfcid=2025082668adc1fa7a113e4399150e42) start a Tuesday afternoon article with the following: _‘Betis need to know immediately whether Antony will return to Heliópolis or not’_
That’s another step up the ladder of cheek from Real Betis after almost boasting about waiting until the end of the window and being able to put pressure on Manchester United.
Antony spent the second half of last season on loan with the Seville club and it’s no exaggeration to say he was one of La Liga’s best players during that period. The Brazilian went off on holiday, still wearing his little Betis shorts when posting training pictures and very much expecting to be in green and white this season.
However, since then he’s missed the entirety of group preseason and done his chances of getting into Brazil’s World Cup squad no good at all. The player’s agents haven’t appeared to be hugely proactive, and the waiting for Betis game has got to the stage the Spanish club wanted… and it’s now them wanting a rush.
AS report a Betis delegation has been in Manchester since Monday, trying to reach an agreement. The Spanish newspaper states: _‘There is a mixed sense of optimism at Betis, aware that the English club has the final say and that the offer doesn’t quite meet those initial expectations. It is a loan for one more season, with no agreed or shared purchase.’_
Now, if you’re a Manchester United fan and that last part made you angry, it’s probably best to ignore the next bit from the newspaper: _‘Patience has its limits, and the Verdiblancos need time to activate their Plan B. The sporting directorate has some strings to pull in the balance in case Antony arrives, to secure reinforcements in other positions, but those stakes will change depending on whether his return is confirmed or not. United has yet to give a definitive answer, although their intention remains to raise a sum of around €40m for the player.’_
So, to sum it up, Betis have sent officials to Manchester to offer a simple loan, and having purposely dragged everything out until the end of the window, they’re now losing patience.
At least they’re consistently shameless.
