Alexander Isak is back in the headlines after Liverpool’s trip to Newcastle, with talk of a second bid and replacements with less than a week left in the transfer window.
Today’s Main LFC Headline
There have been countless updates on Isak’s situation this Tuesday, but the bottom line is that he “remains intent on getting his move to Liverpool,” as per the *Mail*‘s Craig Hope.
It comes after Newcastle‘s owners made attempts to convince him to make a U-turn, but the Swede reiterated his desire to move on and join Liverpool.
Fabrizio Romano maintains that Liverpool are “ready to bid again” if Newcastle open the door to an exit, but it still rests on their ability to sign a replacement – it’s been a slog, we know!

Virgil van Dijk showed why he remains so integral to any success Liverpool hope to have, but Joanna Durkan points out that it is a concern he has had to so involved early on this season:
“As per FotMob, no player made more defensive contributions (14) on the night.
“He made a game-high 13 clearances, of which 10 were headed clear, one block (joint-match high) and won the second-most aerial duels (5/9) behind only Milos Kerkez (7/9).
“The No. 4 has now racked up 30 clearances and 17 aerial duels won (his success rate is 77.27 percent) in two Premier League games, the most of any player in the topflight.
“It points to the continued improvements Liverpool need to make to reduce Van Dijk’s involvement, but simultaneously how vital the No. 4 remains to the team at 34 years old.”

Liverpool won their third UEFA Super Cup on this day in 2005. The Reds’ Champions League triumph pitted them against CSKA Moscow in Monaco, with this match also going to extra time.
Rafa Benitez’s side fell behind in the first half before Djibril Cisse struck in the 82nd minute to ensure the match was to be extended to 120 minutes.
The forward then scored and assisted in the space of six minutes and CSKA had no reply to see Jamie Carragher lift the trophy in the absence of Steven Gerrard.
Liverpool have won the Super Cup four times, the last was in 2019. Let’s hope another shot presents itself in the coming years!
