West Ham owner David Sullivan has struggled when it comes to strengthening the squad this summer.
Sullivan has overseen some poor West Ham transfer business, with not enough high-quality additions brought in.
Graham Potter‘s squad is still lacking, despite the likes of Mads Hermansen and Malick El Hadji Diouf moving to the London Stadium.
However, an outgoing could prove to be the most contentious piece of business that Sullivan makes, despite all the noise about incomings.

West Ham could sell Andy Irving to arch-rivals Millwall in a rare transfer deal between the two clubs.

A report from Alan Nixon claims that the Lions could be ready to test the Hammers’ resolve with a £3.5million bid.
Alternatively, they may decide to pursue a loan deal, with West Ham clearly open to letting the player leave if his valuation is met.

West Ham and Millwall transfer business extremely rare
If Irving was to join the Irons’ rivals, it would make him the first Hammers player to make the move since 2002.
Glen Johnson was the last man to cross that divide, when the E20 starlet spent seven weeks on loan with the Lions after joining in October 2002.
He was eventually recalled by the Premier League outfit in November 2002, and there has been no direct transfers from the Hammers to their rivals since.
Johnson’s career:
1993-2003 – West Ham
2002 – Millwall (loan)
2003-2007 – Chelsea
2006-2007 – Portsmouth (loan)
2007-2009 – Portsmouth
2009-2015: Liverpool
2015-2018: Stoke City
Don Hutchison did join Millwall after being released by the Irons, but that does not count as a direct transfer as he was out of contract when he made the move.
David Martin came the other way in 2019, linking up with his boyhood club after spending two years at The Den before that.
Sullivan could anger Hammers supporters if he sanctions the move, as there is a reason that players do not move between the clubs too often.
The likes of Teddy Sheringham, Paul Allen, Tony Cottee and Lucas Neill have played for both, but a direct move is an unlikely path to take.
