CB Darren Hall 1st among reported Cardinals 53-man roster cuts Tuesday

The Arizona Cardinals continued making cuts Tuesday ahead of the NFL’s 1 p.m. MST deadline, releasing veteran cornerback Darren Hall and wide receiver Simi Fehoko, according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport and Fehoko’s TikTok.

The leak of that news follows a cut of 12 players on Monday as the team aims to reduce its roster to 53 players.

The release of Hall leans Arizona toward a younger group of cornerbacks that begins with recent draft picks Garrett Williams, Max Melton and Will Johnson — all of whom are likely garnering rotation snaps this season.

In terms of depth, third-year pro Kei’Trel Clark, second-year pro Elijah Jones and rookie Denzel Burke are all recent draft picks who have a shot at landing roster spots with Hall cut.

Hall, a 2021 fourth-round choice by the Atlanta Falcons, has since 2023 bounced between two stints each with the Indianapolis Colts and Cardinals.

Fehoko is the biggest surprise thus far. In two preseason outings, he recorded three catches for 31 yards and two touchdowns, impressing enough throughout training camp to challenge Arizona to create room for him.

Whether that would have been as a sixth wideout on the 53-man roster or taking the fifth position from someone like Xavier Weaver, Fehoko was seen as someone having a good shot at making the roster.
