Nuggets trade proposal lands Jamal Murray a backcourt partner for $133 million forward

The Denver Nuggets have made some interesting moves this offseason, but there could be another on the horizon.

This summer has been a relatively busy one in Denver. After the Nuggets lost in Game 7 of the second round for the second straight season, the team was ready to shake things up a bit to try and get back to the top of the West.

Looking to challenge the defending champion Oklahoma City Thunder, the Nuggets made their big deal for Cam Johnson, while also adding guys such as Jonas Valanciunas and Bruce Brown. Still, there might be one more move for the Nuggets this summer.

Aaron Gordon on the way out?

With reports that the Nuggets might be interested in Celtics guard Anfernee Simons, some are speculating the possibility of Aaron Gordon getting dealt to Boston to make a deal happen. Among those is Athlon’s [Nathaniel Holloway](https://athlonsports.com/nba/denver-nuggets/nugget-could-trade-22-million-forward-to-celtics-for-anfernee-simons-amid-reported-interest), who recently proposed a deal that would send Gordon and Peyton Watson to Boston for Simons and draft capital.

Simply put, that wouldn’t be the best deal for the Nuggets. While Denver was taken out in the second round again last season, Gordon has been instrumental to the Nuggets’ success since his arrival in 2021.

Arguably the third-best player on the squad, Gordon’s ability to mesh seamlessly with Nikola Jokic and Jamal Murray while also producing at a high level is incredibly valuable for the Nuggets. While adding another scoring machine like Simons could certainly give the Nuggets a bit of a different look, it might not be worth parting ways with the team’s playoff hero.
