The Kansas City Chiefs are no longer the team to beat in the NFL.
However, it’s not like they don’t know what it’s like to be in this position.
This isn’t the first time that they’ve had to get back on their feet and prove what they’re made of after losing a Super Bowl.
With that in mind, FOX Sports host Chris Broussard said he believes we’re about to see one of the best versions of Patrick Mahomes.
“I think the light show is about to take place. If Patrick Mahomes is who we have said he is, who I believe he is, which is the best quarterback we’ve ever seen, then I expect him to come out and have a great year. He’s got all the motivation in the world. Obviously, he didn’t play well in the Super Bowl. I’m not expecting the 50-touchdown year he had in his second year in the league, but I do think a 2020 season, where he threw for about 4,700 yards, 38 touchdowns, six picks, or when he won the MVP in 2022, 41 touchdowns, 12 picks. Somewhere around there,” Broussard said.

Mahomes, like the Chiefs’ offense as a whole, didn’t play up to his standards last season.
His numbers were modest for a player of his caliber: 3,928 passing yards with 26 touchdowns and 11 interceptions, plus 58 rushes for 307 yards and two touchdowns.
Nevertheless, he was his usual self when the game was on the line, leading the Chiefs to unlikely comebacks and game-winning drives like he’s always done.
Mahomes hasn’t put up video game numbers for the past couple of years, and plenty of that has had to do with poor blindside protection and a lack of weapons.
Now, the Chiefs figure to be fully healthy on that side of the ball to start the season, which isn’t a luxury they had last year.
Mahomes has heard all the noise and is keeping receipts, and that’s usually bad news for the rest of the league.
Expectations remain as high as ever, and Mahomes will be a man on a mission.
