Stats Show How Dominant Trey Hendrickson Has Been Since 2023

The Cincinnati Bengals are keeping star pass rusher Trey Hendrickson, at least for the time being.

That’s obviously great news for the Bengals and their ever-struggling defense.

With that in mind, PFF put into context how dominant Hendrickson has been over the past two seasons.

He’s one of just four pass rushers with at least 25 sacks and 150 pressures in that span.

Hendrickson led the NFL with 17.5 sacks last season.

He also had 17.5 in 2023, establishing himself as one of the best defenders in the game.

Hendrickson, who was sitting out while seeking a new contract, received a $14 million raise and could earn up to $30 million if he plays at least 60 percent of the Bengals’ defensive snaps and the team makes the playoffs.

Barring an injury, the first condition should be easy to meet, but the latter will be more challenging.

Despite quarterback Joe Burrow’s MVP-caliber numbers, the Bengals failed to make the playoffs last season.

That’s because their defense was among the worst in the league in almost every category, and unless they straighten out that side of the ball, there will only be so much Hendrickson can do to keep them afloat.

One thing is for sure, though. He’s going to be among the league leaders in sacks and a Defensive Player of the Year candidate.

Whether he’ll stay with the Bengals beyond this season might be a different story.
