£35m Man City star could now earn a record salary if he leaves before Deadline Day - journalist

Manchester City look set to be busy during the final week of the summer transfer window, with one £35m star very likely to secure a move.

The main focus at the Premier League giants will be outgoings, with Pep Guardiola making it clear on several occasions that he does not want to work with a large group throughout the 2025/26 campaign.

Several members of Man City’s squad could make moves before Deadline Day, with Galatasaray pushing for Manuel Akanji and Ederson. In addition to that duo, Ilkay Gundogan’s future is also up in the air, and Tottenham are very keen on completing a deal for Savinho.

One of these players looks set to earn a record salary at their potential next destination, and it might encourage them to make the move.

Ederson set to earn a record salary at Galatasaray

Having been left on the bench for Man City’s 2-0 defeat against Tottenham on Saturday, Ederson looks very likely to be leaving the Manchester club before the summer transfer window shuts, with Gianluigi Donnarumma set to take his place in Guardiola’s squad.

The Brazilian has a huge £8m-a-year offer on the table from Galatasaray, reports Alex Crook, which would be a record for a goalkeeper in the Super Lig.

“Certain dominoes have to fall into place. Ederson has a huge offer on the table from Galatasaray, €8m-a-year,” Crook said on talkSPORT’s Outspoken with White & Jordan.

“I’m told that it will be a Turkish record in terms of wages. Does he want to make the move from City? We don’t know that yet. If he doesn’t go, I don’t think Donnarumma comes in. It’s staggering.

“Donnarumma, effectively, I know that Paris Saint-Germain were terrific in the second half of the season from January onwards in the Champions League and won convincingly against Inter in the final. But he had a big part to play in the matches.”

It remains to be seen if Ederson completes a move to Galatasaray over the coming days, but with that money involved, the £35m goalkeeper may find it hard to say no.

Highest earners in the Turkish Super Lig

Ederson currently earns £5.2m (€6m) at Manchester City; therefore, he will see his salary increased by €2m if he moves to Turkey, which is almost €5.5m more than Fenerbahce’s Dominik Livakovic.

Overall, the Brazilian would become the eighth highest earner in the Turkish league, but finds himself a long way behind Victor Osimhen and Jhon Duran, who both earn £25m-a-year.

Player Club Salary per year

Victor Osimhen Galatasaray €25m

Jhon Duran Fenerbahce €25m

Leroy Sane Galatasaray €15m

Milan Skriniar Fenerbahce €13.3m

Mauro Icardi Galatasaray €10m

This is a lot of money for Galatasaray to be handing out to a 32-year-old, but it seems like the Turkish giants are building a team that could surprise a lot of clubs in Europe this season.
