FRANKLIN, Tenn. (WSMV) - A 12-year NFL veteran was in a Franklin courtroom on Tuesday to take a plea deal in his DUI case from October 2024.
A Williamson County judge accepted a guilty plea from 42-year-old Jay Cutler and his attorneys on Tuesday morning.
Cutler was arrested on October 17, 2024, after he rear-ended a blue GMC with his white Dodge Ram truck on Bridge Street.
The arrest affidavit from the Franklin Police Department described Cutler as visibly intoxicated and stated that he offered the other driver $2,000 to not call the police and to let him drive away.
The Franklin police officers found a rifle and a loaded Glock pistol in the center console of his truck.
He was charged with driving under the influence, possessing a gun while intoxicated, failure to exercise due care, and implied consent.

As part of the plea deal, the weapon possession charge was dismissed, and Cutler pleaded guilty to driving under the influence. He agreed to “forfeit” the pistol in the deal.
He is required to pay a $350 fine and serve 4 days at the Williamson County Jail beginning on September 29. He will also be on unsupervised probation for one year and must attend a DUI safety class. His Tennessee license was also revoked.
Cutler played quarterback for the Denver Broncos, Chicago Bears, and Miami Dolphins over 12 years in the NFL. He played college ball at Vanderbilt University.
He was the 1st round pick of the Broncos in the 2006 NFL Draft (11th overall).
