Chelsea have joined the race for Tottenham Hotspur target Piero Hincapie
Tottenham Hotspur are involved in several interesting operations in this late stage of the summer transfer window, and if successfully carried out, these moves can further strengthen Thomas Frank’s squad for the 2025-26 season in which his team will be competing both for the Premier League and the UEFA Champions League titles.
It is the attack which is taking most of the attentions of the Spurs management, as they continue to look to bring another suitable forward to replace Son Heung-Min, who left the team this summer, and James Maddison, who suffered a serious injury during the preseason.
However, the North London side is also being linked with the center-back Piero Hincapie, who is reportedly open to leaving Bayer Leverkusen before the summer transfer window closes. Recent reports suggest that the Lilywhites have already made an offer for the 23-year-old defender to get him on loan with an obligatory purchase option.
Still, getting the player would not really be easy. This is mainly the case as Arsenal, who also hijacked Tottenham’s very advanced deal for Eberechi Eze recently, are also interested in the defender, and will be competing with Spurs for his signing.

Chelsea also in the race for the defender
Meanwhile, as per a report from TEAMTalk, there is yet another London club involved in this saga, i.e., Chelsea. The Blues are also facing some doubts about their defense which have led them to explore the option to bringing in a defender of Hincapie’s abilities.
It remains to be seen which of these London sides will ultimately be able to sign the Ecuadorian, with only a few days left in the transfer window. But it is quite easy to understand why they are all interested in him, as Hincapie has proven himself to be a highly capable defender since his move to Bayer Leverkusen back in 2021.
The Ecuadorian center-back was a key part of Xabi Alonso’s Leverkusen team that won the Bundesliga title in the 2023-24 season, and his good blend of experience and youth will provide Thomas Frank, or his rivals, with another highly reliable option for the backline.
