Man Utd attacker 'edging closer' to Old Trafford exit

Manchester United forward Antony is reportedly 'edging closer' to joining La Liga side Real Betis before the end of the window.

Antony is one of the members of the 'bomb squad' at Man Utd who are not part of Ruben Amorim's plans alongside Jadon Sancho, Tyrell Malacia and Alejandro Garnacho, and all three are expected to depart.

The 25-year-old became the second most expensive signing when he moved from Ajax in 2022 for a fee of £82m, but he has turned out to be a major flop at Old Trafford, managing 12 goals in 96 games.

The Brazilian was sent on loan to Betis last season, where he rediscovered his form, and the Spanish club have been in discussion this week to bring him back to Villamarin Stadium this summer.

According to a report from the Telegraph, there is an agreement in principle for Antony to head back to Betis.

The Red Devils want to sell him permanently, and it could come in the form of an initial loan with an obligation to buy.

Sky Sports News previously reported that Atletico Madrid, Bayer Leverkusen and Bayern Munich have also monitored the player's situation, but Betis have shown a concrete approach to sign the winger.

The Red Devils are determined to offload Sancho, but the situation is complex after theplayer reportedly showed no motivation to move to AS Roma.

Sancho has entered the final 12 months of his contract at Old Trafford, and United will lose him for free unless they sell him this summer.

Garnacho has been linked with a move to Chelsea, and there is an expectation that a deal will be struck before the transfer window shuts on September 1.

United insist on £50m for the Argentine winger, and have rejected several bids from the Blues. However, all parties are seeking a compromise within this week.

Kobbie Mainoo, the homegrown boy, wants to leave Old Trafford, according to the Guardian, after being squeezed to the margins by Amorim.
