The Las Vegas Raiders are hopeful to finally get back to being a playoff contender during the upcoming 2025 NFL season. With new head coach Pete Carroll leading the way, there is a lot more optimism surrounding the franchise.
Carroll was not the only big offseason addition. Geno Smith was also acquired from the Seattle Seahawks in a trade that brought in the legitimate starting quarterback the Raiders have been needing. Las Vegas also traded for Kenny Pickett to be his primary backup.
Unfortunately, just before the start of the season, the Raiders are now dealing with a disgruntled player. That player is none other than wide receiver Jakobi Meyers.

Meyers has requested a trade from Las Vegas. At this point, the team does not seem inclined to accommodate that request.
ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter has now provided a major upgrade regarding the Raiders and Meyers. He gave that update during an appearance on the "Pat McAfee Show."
"My understanding is the Raiders had one team reach out to trade for Jakobi Meyers but they wanted them to pick up some of his salary," Schefter said. "The Raiders aren't willing to do that and they're not looking to deal him."
Heading into the 2025 season, Meyers is expected to be a huge part of the Las Vegas offense. In fact, he's penciled in as the Raiders' No. 1 wide receiver.
After signing Amari Cooper late in free agency, Las Vegas finally put together its No. 2 wideout for Smith to work with.
During the 2024 NFL season with the Raiders, Meyers played in 15 games. He caught 87 passes for 1,027 yards and four touchdowns. Back in 2023 in his first year with Las Vegas, the 28-year-old wideout caught 71 passes for 807 yards and eight scores.
It will be interesting to see what Las Vegas chooses to do with Meyers. Trading him away would be a step in the wrong direction offensively, but his trade request has been made.
Hopefully, the two sides will be able to work something out that makes them both happy. The Raiders will need him producing at a high level to take the kind of jump forward that they're targeting.
