Brentford and Bournemouth go head-to-head at the Vitality Stadium on Tuesday night for a place in the Carabao Cup third round.
Both sides will be showcasing new-look teams having undergone a big summer of change, one that has seen key players and personnel from each team's pursuit of European football last term move onto pastures new.
Bournemouth have accumulated over £150 million from the sales of Milos Kerkez to Liverpool, Illia Zabarnyi to PSG, Dean Huijsen to Real Madrid, and Dango Ouattara to Brentford.
Brentford have had long-standing head coach Thomas Frank join Tottenham Hotspur, Bryan Mbeumo switch to Manchester United in a club-record sale, and captain Christian Norgaard move to Arsenal.
It saw both teams have an undesirable start to the campaign as they lost on the opening weekend, but responded positively with respective 1-0 wins over Wolverhampton Wanderers and Aston Villa on Saturday.
Keith Andrews earned his first competitive win as a head coach after stepping up from his set-piece role - a position from which he was credited as the mastermind behind a Bees' win when these two last met in March.
The Bees punished Andoni Iraola's side from set-pieces as Yoane Wissa equalised with a header direct from a corner before a long throw-in was met by a Norgaard half-volley inside the area to secure the points.
It was a result that extended the west Londoners' unbeaten run against the Cherries to seven matches in all competitions - five wins, two draws - since a 1-0 defeat in the Championship Play-Off semi-finals in May 2021.
This will be Brentford and Bournemouth's first meeting in this competition since November 1963 when a formerly known Bournemouth & Boscombe Athletic side won 2-0 in a second round replay.
Team News
Bournemouth
Iraola will be able to call upon Ryan Christie (hernia) and Justin Kluivert (ankle) for this fixture after the duo returned from injury to feature off the bench against Wolves.
Amine Adli is in contention to make his full debut after his reported £25.1 million arrival from Bayer Leverkusen this month, having made his first appearance as a substitute at the weekend.
Ben Doak is also in line to make his debut since arriving from Liverpool after being an unused substitute in the previous match.
Lewis Cook (knee) is unavailable as he recovers from a medial collateral ligament tear sustained in pre-season, alongside Enes Unal (knee), who is a long-term absentee after tearing his anterior cruciate ligament in January.
Brentford
Andrews has confirmed that Yoane Wissa will again not be selected due to the uncertainty surround his future, having been excluded from the squads against Nottingham Forest and Aston Villa.
Ethan Pinnock (knock) and Paris Maghoma (hamstring) are in contention to be involved for the first time this season after returning to full training last week.
Vitaly Janelt (heel) is unavailable but did return to team training last week after undergoing surgery in April. Gustavo Nunes (hamstring) will also not be involved as he recovers from an injury sustained in pre-season.
The involvement of Yunus Emre Konak and Romelle Donovan remains to be seen after the duo featured in Brentford B's 3-1 defeat to Sheffield United Under-21s on Sunday.
Predicted Lineups
Bournemouth
Petrovic; Araujo, Diakite, Senesi, Truffert; Adams; Adli, Scott, Christie, Kluivert; Junior Krupi.
Brentford
Kelleher; Hickey, Ajer, Collins, Henry; Jensen, Onyeka; Ouattara, Milambo, Carvalho; Thiago.
Key Players
Bournemouth: Adrien Truffert
No player has made more overlapping runs than Truffert (17) in the opening two gameweeks of the Premier League season.
Signed from Rennes in June to replace Kerkez, the 23-year-old has quickly established himself in Iraola's line-up and proven to be an industrious presence down the left.
A key component in defence and attack, the left-back will make powerful runs from deep, in or out of possession, and get into positions where his crossing ability will cause Brentford problems.
Imposed with the stern test of facing Mohamed Salah on his English debut, Truffert's defensive qualities will again be put to the test as he'll be entrusted to nullify Brentford's threat in wide areas.
Brentford: Dango Ouattara
Brentford's club-record signing endured the perfect debut on Saturday as he scored the match-winner within 12 minutes of his first start.
Andrews spoke of the 23-year-old providing something his attack lacked, with his speed, finishing, and ability to progress the ball hugely refreshing after an uninspiring opening day performance.
Ouattara's defensive contribution was key too, albeit overzealous at times, as he provided a relentless energy on the right that allowed the Bees to secure a hard-earned win against tough opposition.
The forward's ability in both areas of the pitch will be important against his former club as he will be entrusted to monitor the left-back's threat while acting as a leading presence in transition.
