Insider gives one reason for Warriors' Jonathan Kuminga remaining unsigned

The Golden State Warriors and Jonathan Kuminga are still far apart in a deal, with no end in sight.

It remains uncertain when the Warriors and Kuminga will get a deal done, but as of now, things seem even worse than they did at the beginning of the offseason. It's possible the Warriors could look to trade him, but if that were the case, it's almost safe to say a deal would’ve already been made.

According to the latest report from Brett Siegel of Clutch Points, who wrote an article examining the situation between the Warriors and Kuminga, it sounds like there aren't many reasons for Kuminga still being available.

What's the latest on Jonathan Kuminga

-------------------------------------

He reported that the only thing holding up the Warriors and Kuminga is the fact that Golden State has all the leverage in this situation.

“Josh Giddey and the Chicago Bulls have yet to reach a deal this offseason. The same can be said about Quentin Grimes and Cam Thomas with the Philadelphia 76ers and Brooklyn Nets, respectively. All four restricted free agency situations are held up because of leverage, and in all four cases, it's the organizations that basically have full control of the players,” [he wrote](https://clutchpoints.com/nba/golden-state-warriors/should-warriors-change-jonathan-kuminga-contract).

Kuminga clearly believes that he's much better than the Warriors are giving him credit for, and it's tough to knock a young player for thinking that.

In his defense, it isn’t like he's been given the best opportunity to play every night and be a star. In the Warriors' defense, they might not view him as that player, which is also fair in some sense.

However, the Warriors are the ones that have to sign the checks at the end of the day, so things don’t sound great for a Kuminga.
