Liverpool youngster James McConnell is reportedly poised to join Ajax on loan for the 2025-26 season.
The 20-year-old is a product of the club's youth academy, and he made his senior debut under Jurgen Klopp during his final season.
McConnell has played four times under Arne Slot, including in the Champions League against PSV Eindhoven, but missed the pre-season tour of Asia due to injury.
The young midfielder is regarded as a top talent, and Slot is apparently a big fan of the player, which is why the Reds secured his signature on a five-year deal before sending him away to Ajax.

According to a report from the Athletic, McConnell will undergo his medical ahead of moving to the Eredivisie club, after an agreement has been reached.
The Dutch club require a new No 6 following the exit of Jordan Henderson, and they moved in quickly to secure the youngster's signature ahead of other suitors.
The likes of Ipswich Town, West Bromwich Albion, Hull City, and Oxford United showed interest in signing the Reds midfielder, while there was also interest from European clubs.

The Reds believe that Ajax would be perfect for McConnell's exciting development, mainly because of the presence of John Heitinga, who was Slot’s assistant last season before leaving to take over at the Dutch club.
Heitinga has first-hand knowledge of Slot’s methodology, and Liverpool will be assured that the youngster will be in safe hands.
Moreover, Ajax can offer McConnell European exposure along with regular game time, which would help him immensely in his development.
The final few days of the summer transfer window could be exciting, as Liverpool could look to offload Harvey Elliott, who is looking to move away to play regular games.
