Manchester United have a few days left to conclude all their transfer business for the summer and they still have a lot of work to do. This includes shifting out players who are no longer a part of the project like Jadon Sancho, Antony and Alejandro Garnacho.
In terms of signings, it isn’t clear if the Red Devils will be making any other additions. If one had to make an educated guess, the exits of some of the high-earners could open the door for potential arrivals to bolster the roster.
Meanwhile, an interesting situation is developing at Man Utd with regards to Kobbie Mainoo. The academy graduate hasn’t played a single minute of football in the first two games for Amorim and his future is up in the air.
From a renewal priority to an exit ramp
Just some time ago, we covered a story revealing that Man Utd considered Mainoo’s renewal a priority, but it looks like things have changed for the £70million star. Right now, he seems closer to an exit than he is to staying at the club.
As per the Athletic’s transfer deal sheet, Mainoo is seriously contemplating leaving Manchester United in the coming days. With Amorim preferring other midfielders, he is looking to join a club where he can play regular football.
Mainoo has entered the final 24 months of his contract. If Man Utd dont sell him this summer and he fails to re-enter Amorim’s plans, that pretty much puts the club at a risk of losing an excellent talent for a bargain price next summer.
Touted to be the next big thing when he was breaking through, Mainoo has suffered a dip in form in the past 12 months. Although he could still have a future at Man Utd, the next few days could see him move elsewhere. Let’s wait and see how it plays out.
