3 Chiefs held out of Tuesday’s practice

The Kansas City Chiefs listed three players who would not take the field due to injury or illness for Tuesday’s session at their practice facility on the grounds of the Truman Sports Complex: linebacker Jack Cochrane (knee), defensive tackle Omarr Norman-Lott (ankle) and wide receiver Jalen Royals (knee).

Cochrane has been working his way back from a knee injury he suffered during the Chiefs’ second preseason game against the Seahawks. Norman-Lott injured his ankle in that same matchup.

As for Royals, he continues to battle tendonitis in his knee. The issue threatens his availability to start the season — and brings up the possibility that a trip to the team’s Reserve/Injured list could be in his future as the Chiefs trim their roster to 53 players.

Head coach Andy Reid gave a brief update on all three players.

“Cochrane and Omarr are doing a good job,” said Reid, before quickly clarifying himself. “They’re all doing a good job, but they’re probably a little closer \[to returning\] than Jalen is.”
