Report: Eddie Howe is refusing to let £10m player leave Newcastle

Newcastle United’s attacking options took another hit on Monday night, as Alexander Isak continues his Toon exile.

With the Alexander Isak situation still unresolved, Newcastle United have been deploying Anthony Gordon as a striker.

However, that will not be possible for the next three games. Gordon is now suspended following his red card against Liverpool, giving Eddie Howe another headache to deal with.

Newcastle are attempting to buy a striker, while the ambition is for Isak to return to the squad. In the short-term, a decision regarding Will Osula’s future has been made.

Newcastle United want to keep Will Osula despite loan interest

It was recently reported that Osula is attracting loan interest in the final few days of the summer transfer window.

Regular first-team football would seriously aid the 22-year-old’s development, but a move away is not on the horizon.

According to the Athletic, Osula will not be leaving Newcastle United on loan if a striker does not join the club.

They add that even if reinforcements in attack do arrive, Howe is likely to keep Osula at the club as he wants a deep squad for what is going to be a very busy 2025/26 season.

Will Osula is closer than ever to starting in the Premier League for Newcastle United

With Isak’s future unclear and Gordon suspended, there could suddenly be an opportunity for Osula to start his first ever Premier League game for Newcastle United.

That has to be more likely than ever following his contribution on Monday night. He netted just his second Premier League goal, grabbing a dramatic equaliser for the Magpies at the Gallowgate End. Sadly, Newcastle went on to lose against Liverpool.

Howe was pleased with Osula’s contribution, and it was great to see the £10million man get on the scoresheet after a challenging pre-season.

With Gordon suddenly unavailable, there is an opening up front ahead of Saturday’s trip to Elland Road.

The Newcastle United manager will be forced into a change, and his efforts against Liverpool could result in Osula getting the nod versus Leeds.
