Newcastle United offered chance to sign Sporting CP striker as AC Milan make £20m offer

· 26 August 2025, 20:30

**Newcastle United have been offered the chance to bolster their attacking options with a talented young Danish striker as the club's efforts continue to draw blanks.**

Eddie Howe has been hoping to have at least one new striker to add to his squad all summer, but so far Newcastle have only ever come within touching distance without making any meaningful additions.

Even the 'simpler' looking deals have proved difficult, with Yoane Wissa desperate to join Newcastle but being held at Brentford in a situation eerily similar to that of Alexander Isak's at Newcastle.

The magpies had a £50 million bid for Norwegian striker Jorgen Strand Larsen rejected by Wolverhampton Wanderers on Monday, although it's now being reported that they will try again, and a bid could well be accepted.

Conrad Harder has been offered to Newcastle

Conrad Harder has been 'offered' to Newcastle

Meanwhile, [TBR Football have reported](https://tbrfootball.com/newcastle-offered-chance-to-sign-sporting-striker-conrad-harder-for-cut-price-transfer-fee/) that Newcastle have been offered the chance to sign 20-year-old Conrad Harder from Sporting, as intermediaries have approached the club to notify them of his availability after Newcastle had previously scouted the Dane.

AC Milan have reportedly made a bid of £20 million with a hefty sell-on clause after giving up on Rasmus Hojlund and Victor Boniface.

Harder was said to be the long-term successor to Viktor Gyokeres after his big-money move to Arsenal, but now Graeme Bailey believes he could be set to leave Sporting just 12 months after arriving.

Conrad Harder bagged 12 goals last season for Sporting

Initially, that raised a huge red flag that they would be willing to let him leave 12 months after bringing him in to replace their star striker, especially for such a low fee when he has a £69 million release clause, but then we saw his stats from last season.

Harder bagged 12 goals and seven assists for Sporting last season in 51 outings, which are decent numbers considering he was playing second fiddle to Gyokeres.

At 20 years old, he could be one for the long term at Newcastle. He, of course, comes with the caveat that he got those goals in the Portuguese league, but he still sounds more first-team ready than Will Osula. Although his fellow countryman did well to stake a claim to the starting places with a goal last night, shortly after his introduction from the bench.
