Liverpool vs Arsenal Predicted Lineups

Lineups will be updated throughout the week in live time as and when injury and lineup news is announced.

Green Light: Confident the player will start.

Amber Light: A toss up on whether the player will start.

Red Light: Confident the player will not start.

Liverpool Predicted Lineup:

Liverpool Team News:

Frimpong is set to be sidelined until after the first international break of the season wit ha hamstring injury.

Arne Slot did reveal that Joe Gomez “has not had a setback but he was not able to train three days in a row (after Bournemouth). We will see where he is on Monday and if he can start”. He was on the bench against Newcastle but did not feature.

Connor Bradley returned against Newcastle with a cameo off the bench. If he is deemed match fit, he certainly could start although Szoboszlai’s performance at right-back against Newcastle was very impressive.

We will need to pay attention to Slot’s quotes to see who might be in-line to start at right-back.

No update on Mac Allister’s minor injury this week but Slot did say it was only precautionary in hope he will be fully fit and ready to go for Arsenal.

If Szoboszlai were to start at RB, I think it would be Jones who starts alongside Gravenberch. He was good against Newcastle Monday night and brings calm and control of the ball to a Liverpool team that has needed more of it at times through 2 GWs. He is also taller and stronger than Mac Allister which will be needed against Arsenal.

Arsenal Predicted Lineup:

Arsenal Team News:

Bukayo Saka is set to be out 3-4 weeks with a hamstring injury that he suffered in the 2nd half against Leeds in GW2. A massive blow for the Gunners.

Kai Havertz is set to be sidelined for an extended (and currently unconfirmed) period of time with what seems to be a serious knee injury.

Eze in a shock move spurned Spurs for Arsenal and is has now officially joined Arsenal. He made his first public showing as an Arsenal player at the Emirates against Leeds but was not in the matchday squad. It is unlikely he starts a game of this magnitude having 1 week of training sessions but it is certainly possible.

Ben White was not spotted in Arsenal’s Wednesday training session and if this is due to a knock or injury. Arteta speaking on Friday said “Christian Norgaard won’t be in the squad. Ben (White), let’s see.” While we learned last season that we shouldn’t really read in to what Arteta says about injuries in press conference’s, Ben White’s outlook for GW2 does not seem particularly positive.

Timber answered any fitness questions by starting vs Leeds.

Calafiori got the nod over Lewis-Skelly in GW1 and I think he does again here in GW2. Calafiori provides better ball progression from deep and is more of an overlapping attacking outlet and more of a threat from crosses/set pieces than MLS and Arteta probably opts for that profile against a Leeds team Arsenal should look to play expressive football against and win the game handily.
