Sixteen former Mississippi State football players have been named to 2025 National Football League rosters, according to official team club releases Tuesday. NFL rosters were required by the league office by 4 pm August 26, however, those rosters could still be altered in the days leading up to the season openers next week.
Teams were permitted to carry 90 players during the offseason and through training camp and exhibition play, but the rosters must remain at the current 53 throughout the season. Despite having 53 members on the official roster, only 48 can be active on game day.
Pittsburgh cornerback Darius Slay is the senior-most Bulldog member still playing in the pros, starting his 14th season when the Steelers kick off the season at the New York Jets. Three other Bulldogs now have 10 or more years in the league. Defensive End Denico Autry will begin his 13th season in the league when the Houston Texans get the season started in Los Angeles against the Rams. Kansas City Chief all-pro defensive tackle Chris Jones and Dallas Cowboy quarterback Dak Prescott have also reached double figures in years' experience.
