Spanish side agree deal for £80 million Man United star

Manchester United travel to face League Two side Grimsby Town in the second round of the Carabao Cup on Wednesday night.

Ruben Amorim’s side are yet to win so far this season, having drawn against Fulham on Sunday after a 1-0 defeat at the hands of Arsenal on the opening weekend of the new Premier League campaign.

United’s new forward line of Benjamin Sesko, Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo have not yet clicked, although it is still very early days.

Amorim will likely make a number of changes to his side for their trip to Lincolnshire, but in the meantime it has emerged that one member of United’s squad could soon depart Old Trafford.

Journalist Mike McGrath reports that Spanish side Real Betis have reached an agreement to re-sign winger Antony from United.

Antony, 25, spent the second half of last season on loan at Betis after falling out of favour following Amorim’s arrival in Manchester.

The Brazil international impressed during his time in Seville, scoring nine goals and providing five assists, and McGrath claims that the La Liga side are now set to re-sign the player.

He claims that the deal will consist of an initial season-long loan, with the winger – who primarily plays on the right flank – set to eventually join Betis permanently.

Antony’s current contract with Man United isn’t set to expire until the end of the 2026/27 season, but it appears increasingly likely that he has already played his last game for the club.

Having joined United from Dutch side Ajax back in 2022, Antony has scored 12 goals and provided five assists in 96 matches for the Red Devils across all competitions.
