Golden State Warriors

As the NBA offseason now approaches September, the Golden State Warriors still have yet to make any moves this offseason outside of the 2025 draft.
This has mainly been due to the ongoing saga between them and restricted free agent Jonathan Kuminga, who has reportedly turned down Golden State’s contract offer.

While awaiting a decision by Kuminga, the Warriors have failed to sign any players in free agency and they have also missed out on multiple free agent targets.
Despite this, it has been reported that Golden State does have multiple deal lined up with free agents that will likely be finalized after Kuminga’s situation is resolved.
Warriors have clear plan for Buddy Hield, Moses Moody
For Kuminga, his options are extremely limited as it appears as though he does not want to remain in Golden State but instead join another team.
While there have been multiple teams that have offered Kuminga a contract in free agency, they would have to pull off a sign-and-trade deal with the Warriors to acquire him and none of them have met Golden State’s high asking price for him.

If the young forward is traded, the Warriors would likely have to include either Buddy Hield or Moses Moody in a potential deal and Golden State’s plan surrounding these two players was recently revealed.
According to NBA insider Jake Fischer, the Warriors have refused to include either Hield or Moody in trade talks that would put them in a trade package alongside Kuminga.
“Sources tell The Stein Line, furthermore, that Golden State has refused this summer to even entertain sign-and-trade scenarios that would require it to surrender either Buddy Hield or Moses Moody because of the limited options currently on the roster in terms of proven shooters not named (Stephen) Curry,” Fischer wrote.
This is a massive report by Fischer but one that is not a complete surprise as the Warriors are trying to keep their key players from last season on their roster, especially with them failing to make moves this summer.
Of course, Hield played a large role for the Warriors last season both off the bench and in the starting lineup thanks to his three-point shooting alongside Curry.

Moody also played a key role in Golden State last season and is also one of the Warriors’ few young players they could build around in the future once Curry, Jimmy Butler and Draymond Green retire.
Because of this, Golden State is not looking to trade either player alongside Kuminga this offseason, making a potential sign-and-trade very difficult for other teams to pull off before the season begins.
