Jarrod Bowen had to be stopped from confronting a section of West Ham supporters following the loss to Wolves.
West Ham’s poor start to the new season continued to Tuesday night as they crashed out of the Carabao Cup at the second round stage.
Despite coming from behind at Molinuex to lead just after the hour mark thanks to goals from Lucas Paqueta and Tomas Soucek, the Hammers failed to hold on.
Jorgen Strand Larsen, subject of a £50million bid from Newcastle, climbed off the bench to score twice in as many minutes to secure Wolves’ place in Wednesday’s third round draw.
As for the visitors, they were left to reflect on a third successive defeat to start the season after Premier League losses to Sunderland and Chelsea.
However, at the final whistle Bowen made his way over to clap the away fans, thanking them for their support.

Bowen appeared to hear something from one of the fans which resulted in a few words being exchanged before the West Ham captain was ushered away by Soucek and Alphonse Areola.
Bowen went back after hearing something else from the travelling support before eventually walking away and taking off his captain’s armband.
The loss has heaped the pressure on Graham Potter even further and he will be hopeful of a reaction on Sunday when his West Ham side face Nottingham Forest at the City Ground.
