2 former Lions released by Commanders in final round of cuts

Two former Detroit Lions and NFL veterans were among the final players cut at the roster deadline on Tuesday by the Washington Commanders.

Former 2016 third-round NFL Draft pick S Daryl Worley and 2015 seventh-round pick OL Bobby Hart were each cut by the Commanders, the team announced.

Worley, 30, began his career with the Carolina Panthers in 2016 out of West Virginia and spent two seasons there before making his way to nine other teams over the next eight years.

Stints with the Philadelphia Eagles, Oakland/Las Vegas Raiders, Dallas Cowboys, Buffalo Bills and Arizona Cardinals preceded his 2021 signing onto the Lions’ practice squad.

After signing on September 15, a week later Worley was promoted to the active roster and played in three games for Detroit, making two total tackles playing defense and special teams.

He was released on Nov. 4 and proceeded to spend time on the Baltimore Ravens and Tennessee Titans ahead of his late signing with the Commanders this offseason.

Worley has played 99 career games, amassing 344 total tackles, 42 pass deflections and six interceptions.

The veteran has played at least four games in every season since he joined the league. It wouldn’t be a surprise to see Worley catch on with a team’s practice squad and get another opportunity.

Hart entered the NFL with the New York Giants after being selected out of Florida State in 2015. He spent three seasons with the Giants and Cincinnati Bengals to begin his career, starting 66 games over his first six seasons.

Following the 2021 season, Hart was released by the Bengals and he jumped from the Buffalo Bills, Miami Dolphins and Tennessee Titans over the next two seasons, playing in 19 total games.

Since the 2022 season, Hart has been trying to find his way back on an NFL field, signing with the Lions in 2023 and Commanders in 2024, trying to earn a spot on an active roster.

After another cut in 2025 by the Commanders, Hart is still looking to get back on the field for the first time since 2022.
